How does income taxation for legal entities work in Malta?
There is no separate taxation regime for corporate profits, so companies and all other legal entities are subject to the same tax regime with rules that differentiate the different categories of taxpayers.
Companies in Malta are subject to a tax rate of 35% which, as we have seen, also corresponds to the maximum rate of taxation of natural persons in Malta.
For Maltese companies, whose shareholders are not resident in Malta but in any other country in the world, the government provides a tax rebate of 35% to 5%.
